"We went back in time to see how prehistoric people might have communicated withuniversal symbols and how those symbols might relate to our own experiences and
personal symbols in 2010. Students first added some personal symbols to individual
graffiti/mural walls, then we assembled them on the school wall to work as a collective
statement of identity.
Next, we worked on a large scale to create prehistoric cave-like drawings, using
natural colors and materials. The idea was to use some common Paleolithic period
symbols and include a few of our own too. Most everyone seemed to enjoy telling stories
in such a rough and simple way. Just for fun, we tried to make our images glow in the
dark with special paint."
