Potato Stamps with Jamie & Jenna

Jamie, and her assistant Jenna, chose to take on the heavy task of combining our two classes to work on our culminating large group projects.
Jamie taught the kids how to make potato stamps by placing small cookie cutters in the center of 1/2 of a potato, and then used a plastic knife to cut around the edge of the cookie cutter. Jamie then had her students use a paint brush to apply paint to the potato so that it would not be too drippy when pressed on to the paper. After doing several practice pattern pages, the kids then used their potato stamps to decorate a poster and invitations for our final show.
Combining our younger and older groups together was not an easy task. Jamie and Jenna had to really think about how to make adaptations for such a large range of ages and skill levels. Transitions between rooms was another challenge they had to consider. It was an exciting risk to take, but I am proud of Jamie and Jenna for trying it out.
I'm also really proud of our kids for rolling with such a major change.
