Newspaper Sculpture (Round 2)

After looking at this house made by Sumer Erek, who spent 5 years collecting over 150,000 newspapers, we tried our own hand at making some newspaper structures. Some of our students were able to roll and build the structure on their own, while others needed assistance either with rolling, taping or decision making. Some were frustrated that model had been hidden from them so that they had no reference to copy or to help them know if they had done things "right", while others found it exhilarating to label objects as they created them. It was fun to watch our Moore students imagine with the children and allow the youngsters to lead the project as a whole. As parents came in to see the final product, many children presented their piece with pride saying "Look what I made!".
